2018-2019

Grading for this class is weighted, meaning that assessments (like tests and final drafts) are worth more than other assignments.  This allows for more authentic grading, as the environment during tests is controlled, much like the end-of-course tests will be.  This also means that you will have to study for tests!  Please don’t wait until the night before; start studying as soon as we take notes for the new unit.

Grading is as follows:

Major Grades- 50%   (tests, quizzes, and final drafts)

Minor Grades- 40%  (classwork, projects, and homework)

Bell-ringers –  10%   (journal and point boards)

☺ Please find below rubrics and check-sheets for class projects and papers. ☺

2011- 2012

NEW for the 3rd nine weeks:

We will be having weekly vocabulary tests.  During the week, we will work with these words learning new meanings, and a simple matching the word to the definition test will be each FRIDAY.  These tests are worth 25% of  the 3rd nine weeks grade; therefore, it is essential that you study!  You may find these lists under the “notes” section of this site.  🙂

Lizzie Borden Research Paper

November 15, 2011 ~ We are working on our research papers right now, and these are a couple of forms I thought you would find helpful.  The 1st one is the rubric from which I will grade the papers.  On this document you will find how much each aspect of the paper is worth (format, length, thesis, etc.).  The 2nd sheet is a large version of the peer review sheet the students are using to evaluate each other’s work.  They are to have 3 classmates complete one of these about their paper, and then complete one of their own on their paper.  The sheet they were given in class is similar to this one, except there are 4 small versions of this on one sheet (to save copies!).
